Some days we feel like happiness eludes us. Somehow, we just can’t be happy. Perhaps we were once happy and content and we knew how lucky we were, and we could sigh together in the glow of blissfulness. But one day all that is suddenly replaced with a cold stony silence and you are left with an emptiness that seems to say that it has happened again — happiness eludes you. You cannot be happy. You don’t deserve to be happy. You will never find happiness. It is not yours. What you thought you had is over.
That’s when you shouldn’t go on any form of social media at all. Because you will think all that is true. Everyone is happy but you. Everyone is shiny and beautiful and loved and is thanking God for His blessings on them and their close friends and loving family and ten soulmates. And then you will really feel like crap.
Try reading some Henri Nouwen instead. Then maybe you will see that even if all that feels true for now, all is not lost.
